new record

March 1st, 2009 by Ari

Thanks to a USB card reader, external HD, and USB connected camcorder, I have currently assigned letters A through J to physical drives. (Except B of course, no one uses B any more).

Ari, Ari, Ari… While that may be amusing, you’re slipping: we both know that your drives should really be in the /dev tree, so the only question is, how many of /dev/hd* and /dev/sd* are you using? As USB is, typically, /dev/sd*, you’re probably down to sdh or so, which is still impressive. Of course, let us not forget the old, faithful /dev/fd0…

Just take care with these posts lest someone decide to shatter your hopes – which, after all, is what happens on a Windows system… ;)
