This was from our trip to Amsterdam. There is a public plaza where there are street performers wearing very elaborate costumes. They won’t let you take a picture unless you give them money, and are quite adept at avoiding a camera. Just a reminder – there are some photos (like those which clearly show my or someone else’s face), which are hidden for privacy reasons. If you have a flickr login let me know what it is so I can friend you and you can see them.

electioneering too close to polling location

This photo was taken on May 15, 2007, the day of the primary election in Philadelphia at the Paul Robeson school of Human Services, 42nd+Ludlow streets. The double doors in the picture are the entrance to the polling location. Those signs look awfully vlose to the door. Isn’t there a federal law about how far back election related signs have to be?

spelling

The word “occured” appears in google 12.4 million times, despite the fact that it’s not actually a word. The word “occurred” appears 217 million times. This means that people spell the word occurred incorrectly about 5.4% of the time on the computer, many of which have a spellchecker!

My question is this: are there any other words in the English language which people spell incorrectly at such a high rate?
