this is my brain on drugs
February 22nd, 2007 by adminI took the BBC’s brain sex ID test the other day. I found both my results and the commentary explaning the tests and what they mean to be fascinating. Unsurprisingly my score which was the most “out of the ordinary” was the empathizing v systemizing test. I was very high on the systemizing scale. (Not really surprising when you think about it). Overall though, I scored exactly average…. for a woman! Honestly that did surprise me. Of all the things I’ve been accused of in my life, thinking like a woman is probably the last one I would have expected to hear. (Apparently, being able to spot differences and read emotions make my brain more “female”. I personally think it may just be me findings ways to game the system).

What browser did you use to take the test? I took it but, when I got to the end, it wouldn’t open the results page in the main window… (Yes, I used Firefox 2.0.0.1 on Linux.) Is there any way to work around whatever HTML nonsense they may have embedded in order to find the result?

Oh, and about the result: remember, this is the BBC, after all… ;)

Did they say “human woman”? Could it be that you’re thinking like a klingon instead?

Um, I took the test and it said I was the strong, silent type, best suited for an artist or engineer. I think the tests may have some kinks to work out…

firefox on windows. Off hand I can’t tell you what sort of HTML and/or flash stuff they used, but try going back and seeing if it’s still there – they claim it’s saved, which probably means there’s some cookie based uathentication or something.
