Someone asked me recently how I learned to cook. I replied that I learned to cook in order to impress women (this is entirely true). It worked. (Which is ironic, because I must have done 1000 things to impress women between the ages of 18-24, and this is the only one that worked).

I find this interesting because before I got married (or at the very least, before I became engaged) my cooking was much more daring. I regularly searched out and tried new recipes. Since I got engaged, I don’t think I’ve been nearly as daring. Although part of that is time (working full time I don’t have nearly as much time as when I was a student), I think part of it is that I no longer need to impress women.
