Random pt. II

October 17th, 2006 by admin

I like this method of blogging….

  • For some reasons Philadelphia winters seem worse than DC winters. I don’t know why since right now it’s only going down to the 40s, a temperature not unusual for any area on the east coast this tmie of year, but I just feel like I spend more time feeling cold. It may be because:
  • The heat in our building isn’t working.
  • Doesn’t anyone build with storm windows anymore?
  • I somehow managed to lose my fantasy football game this week because Rex Grossman got me negative points last night. Unbelievable. I knew I should have started Hasselbeck.
  • In 1984, the Detroit Tigers won the world series. Also, the Chicago bears made it to the NFC championship game. In 2006, the Tigers are in going to open the world series in a few days, and the Bears are 5-0, and likely headed to the playoffs. Also, a republican names Bush was in the whitehouse, albeit serving under the direction of an older man with grey hair who was not-so-secretly in poor health. Insert twilight zone music here.
  • In the PA governor’s race, has anyone else noticed that Lynn Swann’s debate strategy is reminiscent of Bush in 2004? Everyone says that Kerry/Rendell is a very good debator, and that Swann/Bush is the outsider with no real political experience. They then “win” the debate by simply not falling flat on their faces. It’s a good strategy – after all what we voters look for in a governor is someone who sets their expectations so low they can’t fail.
  • I can’t tell you how much joy it will give me to be able to vote for a senator again. It gives me even more joy to vote against Santorum.
  • Assuming Santorum loses (which the polls say is likely), Pennsylvania will have one of the most conservative Democratic senators (Casey) and one of the most liberal Republican ones (Specter).
  • Barrow Alaska has made both ESPN and the New York Times. For a town with a population of about 3000, that’s a lot of media exposure.

    1. David Says:

I think you mean Gore, who was Bush’s opponent in 2000, or perhaps you mean 2004…

(gotta say, Sen. Kerry is one of the people who makes Gore look like an excellent campaigner…)

    2. Angel one Says:

I guess I was thinking about 2000 and 2004 – it seems like he used the same basic strategy in both debates. So either Gore or Kerry would work. I should correct what is obviously a typo though.
