Those of you who dislike children (and yes, I know who you are, don’t bother trying to hide), will love this article.

Dream house

I have found my dream house. It’s in a great location, about 10 minutes from Schul and 10 minutes from the metro. It’s also right accross the street from rose park, the place where we play football in the winters and baseball in the summer. It also has a huge kitchen. Unofrtunately, it’s 1.5 million. Ahhh well, maybe after the real estate bubble collapses we’ll be able to afford something like it.

run and hide

There’s been someone at work I’ve been trying to get a meeting with for about a week now. I sent her an email last week suggesting tuesday as a good time to meet since it appeared to be fairly open on both our calendars. She never emailed me back. I left a few voicemails, which were also never returned. By looking at her calendar I knew she was in the office, she just wasn’t returning any of my messages. At one point yesterday I decided to just go down to her office and see her in person. She wasn’t in, although her jacket was, so again I could tell she was in the office that day. I also noticed that she had set up a meeting with her boss and another coworker in her office for 3:30 where the text of the meeting was the text of the original email I had sent her. This means that either she had forgotten to invite me to my own meeting (which seemed unlikely since I had left 3 voicemails saying “still haven’t heard from you”). I ultimately decided to go drop in on the meeting whether or not I was invited. It turns out I wasn’t. I barged into the conference room just in time to catch the end of the following exchange:

Person (to coworkers): …he keeps calling but I just keep not answering whenever he calls.
Me (barging in): Hi, my name is Ari.
Person: …and there he is right now.
long awkward pause

Yeah…. I suppose that could have gone better.

french joke #187,349

There are really two things about the riots in France that never cease to amaze me:

  1. The French have yet to surrender. (Probably only because they’re only fighting other French people.)
  2. They also haven’t found a way to blame the US yet. (Although I’m sure they will if you give them enough time).

And since I’m on the subject, I think the French riots have lasted longer than the maginot line.

I don’t know how this managed to catch my eye, but it looks like the Belz Chasidim are actually now more progressive than much of Lakewood NJ.
